I titled this drawing “Surrender” as I wanted to capture a benign expression reflecting a state of acceptance. There is usually a negative connotation to the use of the word surrender as it refers to the “waving of the white flag”. The surrendering I’m using in expression is one of accepting the ‘suchness’ of this moment. Letting go of resistance to undesirable and unfavourable circumstances. When faced with an obstacle in my experiences, rather than fighting fire with fire, remaining kind and open allows you to access a true understanding to a situation and in turn, miraculously dissolves whatever hindrance was in your way.
