It All Started 10 Years Ago!

In 2009 I graduated with a Second-Class BA (Hons) Degree in Fine Art at Middlesex University. I was rather disappointed with my qualification as I felt society wouldn’t deem it as anything worthy. On top of that, I had no idea what I was going to do with that degree or with myself as an artist.

Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined that 10 years later I would have the honour of being celebrated at Middlesex University with a giant billboard poster for the “Made In Middlesex” Campaign. And to also be acknowledge as an artist in the eyes of society!

For those of you who have just graduated from university/college, I wish you all the very best in your endeavours. Don’t let a qualification on a piece of paper determine your trajectory in life. Only YOU can truly create and design the life you live. Make your own goal and work towards achieving it!

My first ever portrait muse after graduating in 2009 was my drawing of a dear friend’s daughter, Mia Cadman.

Every two years of Mia’s journey through life since 2009 I have been capturing her in a portrait drawing. Mia just turned 13 years of age this year!

I felt that gifting Middlesex University with a portrait of Mia would be quite fitting as she helped begin the artistic journey after graduating.

Featuring works in my solo show next month will also include all of Mia Cadman’s drawing since age 3, 5, 7, 9 and her latest at age 11. I’ve never seen them all together before so it will be quite an experience for me!

A special thanks to Shazia Mowlabaccus, Prof. Kurt Barling and the team at Middlesex University for allowing me to donate a piece of my soul for the students to see at the university. With hopes they feel inspired to continue to utilise their passions and to also be reminded that the creative gift they have can make room for them.

Thank you all so very much for continued support!
Hope to see you next month at my show! 🙂

Much love.
