Above The Stream
Graphite and Charcoal on archival paper - 54 x 69cm
Okafor titled this drawing “Above The Stream” as he wanted the expression of the subject he captured to reflect a state of aware-presence and calm. “Above The Stream” in other words to him meant above the addictive stream of thinking. The kind of thinking Okafor felt, which takes you away from acknowledging and appreciating the present moment, to worrying about the future and wallowing in the past.
